Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a directive and educational approach to therapy that targets behavioral change by addressing the thought(s) that drive the behavior. The process is goal-oriented and time-limited. Homework is a cornerstone to effective CBT. Therapeutic confrontation can be used to increase a client’s awareness of incongruences between thoughts and behaviors.
Eric specializes in using cognitive behavioral approaches to help parents who are raising a child with special needs. Social Thinking is also based on a cognitive behavioral approach. (See Social Thinking)
